Making community insights visible, accessible and meaningful across Moray.

The Data Visualisation Project is part of the Collaboration for Mental Wealth in Moray’s commitment to strengthening shared understanding across the system. Community members, partners and lived‑experience contributors have highlighted how valuable it is to see what’s happening — not just read about it. This project responds directly to that need.

WHY THIS PROJECT MATTERS

Across Moray, rich insights are gathered through lived experience, Collective Voice reports, engagement sessions, and community‑led research. But this information often sits in documents, conversations or separate systems. When it’s hard to see the bigger picture, it’s harder to act on it.

Data visualisation helps by:

Turning complex information into clear, accessible visuals

Supporting rights‑based, trauma‑informed conversations

Making lived experience more visible in decision‑making

Strengthening collaboration across partners and working groups

Helping people understand how different parts of the system connect

WHAT IS THE DATA VISUALISATION TOOL?

The Data Visualisation Tool is an online, interactive platform that turns Collective Voice insights into simple, accessible visuals. It helps people explore themes, patterns and lived‑experience stories in a way that is easy to understand and useful for everyday conversations, planning and decision‑making.

The tool brings together anonymised feedback gathered across Moray and presents it through charts, filters, CHIME‑aligned categories and visual summaries. Anyone can use it — community members, practitioners, partners and decision‑makers — to better understand what people in Moray are experiencing and what matters most to them.

It is designed to be:

Accessible — simple visuals, clear language, mobile‑friendly

Meaningful — rooted in lived and living experience

Useful — supports rights‑based practice, planning and improvement

Transparent — shows how community insights are being used

This is the first version of the tool, developed with community input and continually improved based on feedback.

WHAT IS COLLECTIVE VOICE

Collective Voice is how Moray gathers lived and living experiences so real community stories can shape better mental health, wellbeing, and recovery supports. Insights are anonymised, themed, and shared in public Collective Voice Reports.

WHY COLLECTIVE VOICE MATTER TO THIS PROJECT

The Data Visualisation Project exists because community members and partners told us that Collective Voice insights are powerful — but not always easy to access or use in everyday practice.

People asked for:

clearer ways to see what themes are emerging

tools that help connect lived experience with decision‑making

visuals that support rights‑based conversations

accessible formats for people who prefer images over long reports

ways to bring multiple feedback loops together

This project responds directly to that need.

Collective Voice provides the data, stories, and themes. The Data Visualisation Project provides the tools that make them visible, accessible and meaningful.

Together, they strengthen Moray’s ability to use lived experience as system intelligence.

HOW THE PARTNERSHIP WORKS

This project is a collaboration between:

Moray Wellbeing Hub CIC — hosting Collective Voice and supporting peer‑led engagement

Collaboration for Mental Wealth in Moray — coordinating community‑led research and shared learning

Science Ceilidh / Community Knowledge Matters — supporting accessible data visualisation and community‑centred research

Moray Alcohol & Drugs Partnership (ADP) — embedding lived experience in rights‑based improvement

Moray Community Justice Partnership (CJP) — using lived experience to inform justice system change

The work is collaborative by design. Each visual is developed with input from people who understand the local context and want to make information easier to use.

Charter of Rights engagement

MAT experiential interviews

Feedback gathered by partners across Moray

These insights are then sorted, themed and visualised using CHIME (Leamy et al., 2011), rights‑based frameworks and community‑led design principles.

WHAT HAS COME FROM THIS PARTNERSHIP SO FAR

Through this collaboration, we have:

Developed early prototypes of visual tools

Created accessible visuals that help people understand emerging themes

Supported rights‑based conversations at events and workshops

Strengthened shared understanding across partners

Built confidence among community members who can now see how their experiences shape change

Identified opportunities for improvement that were not visible through other feedback routes

Launched the first public beta of the Collective Voice Data Visualisation Tool
